Wind Power Project – Al-Tafilah 100 MW, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 100 MW wind power plant at Al-Tafilah governorate was signed with the National Electricity Power Company (NEPCO) in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
the contract for design, supply, and installation (turnkey basis) was signed with the Joint Venture of the American company GE and Spanish company ELECNOR on 7/2/2018,The Project Was granted the commercial operation date certificate in the second half of 2020.


Characteristics of the project location:
The project is located in Al-Tafilah Governorate within the Al-Hasa Province about 130 Km south of the Capital Amman. The total area of the project land is 10.467 million square meters.


The project includes:
28 wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW, each manufactured by the American company GE, which makes the total capacity of the plant 100 MW.
33 Kv equipment and 33/132 Kv main transformers.
GE Was responsible for the installation, testing and operation of on-site Wind turbines with collaboration of  sub-contractors.
MGH / Mass Jordan for Renewable Energy has selected the world's leading and specialized companies to implement this project, including:
Barlvento (Spain) to supply and install wind speed measuring tower for wind speed study in the region for one year.
ECO Consult company to conduct environmental and community studies for the project area and according to the specifications of the World Bank IFC for one year.
Italian company CESI-Italy to conduct the study of Grid Connection and Grid Impact Studies.


It is intended to expand the project to 150 MW in the future.
